Mass Madness Reviewed:

The Bushes still ride high, and their caucus... for they did not lose the life of a single family member in the war in Iraq.

We are told that 88 percent of Americans are in favor of war!

The US defence budget has been raised to around $360 billion!!

A splendid new generation of nuclear weapons is in the pipeline, so that we can all breathe safely!!!

But what the 88 percent of Americans think they support is a lot less clear....

A war for how long, please? At what cost to the American lives?

At what cost to the American taxpayer’s pockets?

At what cost to the rest of the world?

Speak, at what cost ???

I know most of those 88 percent are thoroughly decent, compassionate and humane people...

I remember my frustration with the propaganda of blatant lies that the Bush Administration and the corporate media pumped out regarding the ‘Weapons of Mass Destruction’ that Saddam Hussein, reportedly, was going to unleash on the shores of America. There was the constant, sickening drum beat for war, and nearly all the people of the country fell for it. People, in their rage and ignorance, supported the war against Hussein for his role on 9/11. Soon we saw the immense destruction and demise of Iraq that was never a threat to anybody. We saw that this illegal, unethical, and unneeded war would also cost the American people, not only in terms of lives, but in terms of the funding of a war machinery necessary to wage a war of epic proportions.

We witnessed how the mass hysteria was programmed and delivered into the American psyche; it almost seemed impossible to stop it.

In Hitler’s Germany, there were rational people who warned the people against fascism. In Bush’s America there was none. Sadly, America has not evolved since the lunacy of the Bush days. The inability to comprehend the truth about Iraq has cost over a million lives in that country. Tens of thousands of American soldiers’ lives, lost in the battle, scars the body and mind of the world. An estimated 3 trillion dollars will be spent on this war or even more.

But we still don’t understand. We see an endless war as the only way to 'go forth'.

We see corporate rules as freedom. We have learnt greed is good.

We are ill-schooled to connect the dots. The Americans are hopelessly and irredeemably crazy due to ignorance.

Still there has to be someone to tell the truth in a country that is in a continual state of negation, depravity and insanity. Those 88% of Americans that supported the War Against Iraq should be ashamed of themselves. Shame is a good thing if it leads to better choices, though. If you happen to comprise that 88%, please vow to make amends, thats what we call intellectual honesty.

Enjoy the rest of your week-end.

Love,

Prof. Dr. Alex Abraham Odikandathil
