Alex Abraham Odikandathil I like this school as I was a student there from 1965-66 to 1967-68. And what made this school likable was the very presence of its then Headmaster, A V JOHN SIR of Elimullummakkal House- another Thomas Arnold of Rugby. He was a devoted teacher who nurtured each one of his little men and women from nullity to celebrity. The word ‘teacher’ represents knowledge; teaching connotes transfer of knowledge from the teacher to the taught. In fact, the foundation that makes a person grow in life is to a great extent based on the knowledge he acquires from his teacher. If there is somebody other than our parents who plays an important role in our mental development, its our teachers.They inspire you, entertain you, and you end up learning a ton even when you are not aware of it. The calling of the teacher, to which I'm an insider too: hmm... there is no craft more privileged. To awaken in another human being powers and dreams beyond one’s own, to induce in others a love for that which one loves, to make out from one’s inward self their very future: wow... that is a threefold advantage a teacher only has title to. I personally feel that education is not to reform students, to amuse them or to make them experts in certain fields so as to establish employability. To me, its purpose is to unsettle their minds, widen their horizons, inflame their intellects, teach them to think, re-think; write, re-write; learn, re-learn: to bring about a commotion in their thought process, to equip them to question and challenge ideas. “Matha Pitha Guru Deivam” is a very popular adage in Sanskrit. Transalated, it is “Mother Father Teacher God” which provides the order in which one should offer reverence. The phrase is a basic tenet from the time of the Vedas and represents the hierarchy in which one should respect these entities. Every Dick and Harry will not qualify for it, but Late Mr. A.V. JOHN rightly deserved it. And I'm sure, any one of his students will vouch for it.. A great teacher can ignite imagination, inspire hope, and instill love of learning in the minds of the taught and that was MY JOHN SIR, and I am sure everyone who knew him will bear witness to it. സമാനതകൾ ഇല്ലാത്ത പ്രിയ ഗുരുവേ, അങ്ങയുടെ നിത്യ സ്മരണക്കു മുമ്പിൽ നിറ കണ്ണുകളോടെ പ്രണാമം!

We are lucky to have a few efficient, skilled and honest officers like Siby Mathew CIC, Vincent M Paul, Vigilance Commissioner, Dr. Jacob Thomas Vigilance ADGP and T P Senkumar, the Kerala Police Chief. Kerala's quick journey towards 'Complete Corruption' makes one sad at the thought that these and other good officers will be denied the riches, connections and influence that the dishonest ones make in the course of their career.
